DJ brought intensity and toughness to the Celtic team in the 80's. One memory I will never forget is in the scene after Ralph Sampson punched Jerry Sichting in the finals, DJ was out in the middle of it, fist cocked, dancing and looking for somebody to punch.
RIP DJ...

What a shame...It would have been nice to see him coach in the NBA which is what he was he was working towards.
The one memory of DJ that I always remember is when Larry stole the ball and fed a heads up DJ driving back to the hoop for the lay up. If not for him being aware, and if he just went back on defense, there is no great moment for Bird and the Celtics.
But that lay in is not the part that sticks with me that most. Its after he made the basket, he immediatley got his arms up to try and block the inbound pass, no show boating, no chest thumping that just about every player today would have done instead of thinking defense.
He was one in the best starting five I ever saw, and I'm glad I was around to see it. I hope the Celtics and The Hall do the right thing, dead or alive he belongs to be next to the best of all time.
